    Psychological Associate

    The Southdown Institute, a recognized leader in the provision of spiritually-integrated, holistic mental health, seeks a Psychological Associate to join our multi-disciplinary team of mental health clinicians. Located in Holland Landing, Ontario, north of Toronto, Southdown is situated in a beautiful, natural setting on 37 acres. Services include psychological assessments, vocational/ candidate assessments, residential in-patient treatment, outpatient psychotherapy, consultation, and psychoeducational presentations. Southdown serves an adult population, and presenting issues include depression, anxiety, traumatic distress, interpersonal conflict, unintegrated sexuality, personality disorder, and a range of chemical and process addiction.

    Job Summary:

    The Psychological Associate will conduct individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and clinical and candidate assessments, provide psychoeducational seminars, and participate in weekly case reviews and staff committees. Assessments are conducted using standardized psychological measures and incorporate findings from the multi-disciplinary team. The holistic treatment model at Southdown requires close interaction with the other members of the clinical team, who provide psychotherapy, spiritual direction, nursing, psychiatry, and dietary and fitness instruction.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate has a MA Associate in Clinical Psychology and is fully registered for autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. The successful candidate has experience in individual and group psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, DBT, short-term dynamic therapy), comprehensive psychological assessment, and the treatment of mood disorders and personality disorders. The successful candidate is highly organized, with exceptional written and communication skills.

    The successful candidate is able to work both independently and in a team atmosphere. Computer literacy is essential for purposes of electronic charting, particularly the ability to use Microsoft Office. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
