Health Professionals Directory Now Public

Our team spent a great deal of time brainstorming ways to continue to help those of you who have signed up to grow your practice, receive as many referrals as possible. To that end, we determined that allowing the general public (non-members) access to the Health Professionals Directory, on which you may have a profile, allowed us to cast a wider net and to allow potential clients who are looking for help, to contact you directly. Over the coming weeks we will continue to promote the Directory and to encourage people to check it out. Of course, we also encourage you to refer to your colleagues on the site, too. Non-members will not have access to the discussion forums and rewards that members have when you log in.

When members refer to one another within the site, we are able to private message one another and then provide the person looking for help with your contact information.

When non-members find you in the Directory, they are able to email you through the site. You will receive an email indicating that they found you on ReferToMe.ca. We encourage you to respond to these messages within 24-48 hours.

We Are All Health Professionals

We have removed the option of signing up as a mental health or allied health professional on ReferToMe.ca.

This change came about further to a discussion with Susan Wagner, who is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Clinical Education in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology, at the University of Toronto. She says that:

“The words we use to refer to each other and their semantics makes a difference as to how we are perceived and how we work together to optimize patient/client/family/caregiver services. Each profession matters and plays a key role that needs to be recognized.”

After hearing her views, we concluded that placing all of us under an inclusive health professionals banner was the way to go. We hope you feel the same way!

Update Your Profile Please

Since we are expecting a greater number of people to be accessing the Directory over the next few weeks and months, we want to make sure that you present yourself in the best possible way, with the most accurate information. We encourage you to log in and then to click on the edit profile link in order to update information about you and your services, if need be. We are finding that there is an increase in the number of people looking for in person help, so if you’re moving from online to in person, or offering a hybrid approach now, then please let people know about this.

Please continue to check out our discussion forums page and subscribe to the forums so that you can receive email alerts when another member posts a comment or offers information that you may find helpful.

How Does The Site Work

We have received a number of questions from members in regards to how the site works. Please be sure to read answers to all of your questions on the FAQ pages and be sure to watch the demo videos, which can be accessed from our home page, to see even more.

As always, please let us know if we can support you in any way by writing to us at support@refertome.ca.

Thanks for using our Refer To Me health professionals directory to find help.

In your message please let the professional to whom you are writing know whether you are looking for individual, couple or family help. If there’s a specific area of concern, please mention this, too. Also, you may want to enquire as to whether or not the Refer To Me health professional is available in person or online only.

Please allow 24-48 hours for a response. If you do not hear back from the professional, please contact support@refertome.ca so that we can assist you.

Refer To Me does not read or retain your email. However, a copy will be sent to you for your records. Please be aware that email is not a secure means of communication and spam filters may prevent your email from reaching the health professional. If you haven’t heard from the health professional within 48 hours, please contact us so that we may assist.
